Bentonite for Piling Foundation

A mixture of sodium bentonite and slurry is bentonite slurry. A slurry is a thin sloppy mud or cement or any liquid mixture of a powdered solid with water, often used as a simple way to treat solids in bulk, in extended use. This mixture is commonly used in the soil to create a powerful protective barrier.
This mixture is commonly used in the ground to create a powerful protective barrier. In the construction of specific foundations for digging diaphragm walls and bored piles, this also finds its use. Bentonite is used for self-hardening mixtures that are then used for the construction of cut walls, grouting mortars, and grouting.

Functions and Uses of Bentonite Slurry

  • Supports the excavation by adding hydrostatic pressure to its walls, i.e. to prevent or maintain an area from collapsing.
  • Remain in the excavation, and do not flow into the soil to any great degree, thereby serving as a sealant.
  • Suspend debris at the base of the excavation to stop sludgy layers piling up.
  • Supports the excavation by adding to its walls hydrostatic pressure, i.e. preventing or sustaining the collapse of an area.
  • Remain in the excavation, and do not flow to any significant degree into the soil, thereby acting as a sealant.
  • To avoid sludgy layers building up, suspend debris at the base of the excavation.
