Bentonite in Ceramic Industry

Bentonite is colloidal, it is normally thinner than ball clay, can have an immense surface area and an active electrolyte that provides extremely high plasticity. In fact, without much impact on the fired color, bentonite can generate ace dry strength.
Based on extremely pure and white clay, our ceramic bentonite should preferably be used as a suspension agent in glazes and porcelain enamels, as well as as a binder & plasticizer in whiteware for electric porcelain bodies, floor and wall tiles.

Advantages of Bentonite

  • The industrial micro-fine grades of our white sodium bentonite are (100 percent minus 325 mesh).
  • Its presence is tasteless and odorless, inert, inorganic, and non-irritating with a soft and slippery texture.
  • Enhance the plasticity of ceramic paste like a binder & plasticizer
  • Enhance “green strength” as a suspending agent for ceramic bodies & glazes.
  • The addition of bentonite to glazes also offers improved dry strength and a harder and more stable surface in the same way.
